Melleth — The One the Flowers Wait For

Melleth is found where the meadow is warmest and the clover grows thickest — curled on a sun-warmed stone while dandelions lean in around her as though listening. She is small enough to hold in two hands, but the hum she carries is older than the season.

She does not hurry. That is the first thing those who find her notice. While everything around her rushes — bees to their work, petals to the wind — Melleth rests, and watches, and waits with a patience that feels almost like trust.

Her body is deep matte black with vivid amber-yellow stripes, and between each segment grow small tufts of sunflower petal, soft and golden. Her wings are white and translucent as onion paper, veined like pressed flowers. In sunlight they catch colour from whatever blooms nearby, and for a moment she seems to wear the whole meadow.

She appears when the growing season is just finding its rhythm — not at the first flower, but after the second or third, when summer has committed. She is the sign that the flowers have decided to stay, that warmth is no longer a rumour. Those who see her find they slow down without meaning to.

Keeper's Oath: I carry Melleth as a reminder that patience is not stillness — it is readiness. She waits because she knows what is coming. I will learn to wait that way too.
